We've been a bit silent here, as not much was worth telling really, awaiting the result of the buyers' finances. They managed to get that done, so now there is no escape: we must be off and away per January 3rd 2017, and will never return. (Yes, we can see your teary eyes already.)
Today the movers came to see how much stuff they need to transport. He adds up our stuff to 53 m³. I already told him we have a lot of junk, "which were my own words", he chuckled. The containers they use are exactly 50 m³, so we need to lose 3 m³ still. (Some half bottles of digestive, anyone?)
They pack your household on one day, park the container on their premises till the drivers head off with two such containers, which happens once a week. (Apparently we're not the only ones moving south.) December is an odd month, as chauffeurs want to be home at Christmas. We too, but apparently that is a different home than the chauffeurs', so we will now pack Friday December 9th, with delivery scheduled before Saturday 17th. So, we have a week to leave here, and get "home".
We think one or two nights on an airbed are enough, so I guess we'll do the last vacuum cleaning Saturday December 10th, and fly from Rotterdam on Sunday the 11th, at 8 in the morning. (Which means getting up at 5AM, lovely.) Aren't you sorry for us?
