Those who sat outside at our house know our bear chairs. Wooden chairs from Canada, made of red cedar. Now 20 years old. Time for an overhaul after suffering the horrible Dutch climate. One folding chair did not survive and has remained behind onder a not-too-expensive shrubbery.
Work in progress.
New ceder wood stays yellow when oiled.
The adjustable bear chair after two oilings. Too much oil, so that is waiting, sanding again, and trying the oil again. Old cedar gets very dark from oil, while new cedar stays a honey colour (above).
Bits of anodised alumium are not shunned where the wood has gone beyond reair. Quite nice actually, aluminium inlay..
Almost ready to be oiled with Tung oil.
