When you buy a house you assume certain things simply work. Showers stay warm and adjustable, loos don't keep running, ovens work.
I'd like to discuss the oven/furnace today. As you can see there is a towel on the oven handle. Quite handy, as there are no hooks for towels.
It can also be they are there to hide the fact that the oven door is quite rusty. Or was the rust caused by wet towels...?
It has a multi-function oven with a thousand options. Conventional, hot-air, fan, grill, with and without fan, light, clock. Only, the selector was cleaned so thoroughly that the labels have completely vanished, which makes choosing the mode of operation quite complicated. Also I doubt that "cleaning" really was the cause, considering the state of the apparatus. You can still see dust and grease in that ventilation grille. Oven light nor clock were working.
We have prepared great oven potatoes a few times, after figuring out that turning the selector three clicks to the right gave a mode of operation compatible with potatoes, and sort of guessing the temperature. Yes, the labels of the temperature control were gone, too.
Last time potatoes was really the last time, as the oven shorted out smelling heavily of electricity, and bringing down the electrics of the entire house.
The potatoes were boiled and pan-fried, which is the way to go since then.
MAnyway, the old furnace is a Boretti, and it's rubbish. Half usable as long as the gas hobs keep working. They are rubbish too. Only adjustable from high flame to a little less than high flame. Simmering is only possible with the two old simmerplates I have kept. Else cooking rice or puy lentils would be near impossible. And the wok burner is an idiot.
So we need something new. We had a great Atag gas hob in NL. With a good wok burner, and two simmer burners. Well, there's a new one, and it's even better!
Or this one, panoramic! Two wok burners!
But actually, I like Atag best for their simmer burners.
Only, Atag makes life difficult, as thy don't have a dealer network in Spain, while the cooker needs to be changed from natural gas to butane, using a conversion set (25 €). There is a good tech description for conversion to 30mbar butane/propane, but I don't feel like tweaking gas appliances.
Atag has very nice ovens too, like this one... Well DAMN!
I was toying with the idea to buy both a hob and an oven... Now what mr. Atag? Do I need to buy a Bosch? Or can you help me get a converted cooker to Spain? Please?
