Koelkast Discussie / Fridge Discussion

De koelsituatie is tamelijk achterhaald, zoals u hier ziet. Een losse koelkast en losse vriezer, naast elkaar onder het fraaie iroko-houten aanrecht, doch beide meer dan tien jaar oud.

Zanussi is de enige die één combinatie heeft van koelkast en vriezer in een tafelmodel. Nouja, had. Het ding is namelijk niet meer leverbaar. (Een combi heeft maar één motor, en is dus zuiniger.)

// Zanussi is the only manufacturer with a combi of fridge and freezer as a tabletop model. Well, was. It's no longer available. (A combi has just one motor, and uses less energy.)

Deze is vast wel beschikbaar, maar ons budget kent grenzen. Onze smaak uiteraard niet.

Wat te doen. We kunnen natuurlijk bovenstaande twee ouwe apparaten op dezelfde plek vervangen door twee nieuwe. Eén van ons vindt dat een strak plan, en heeft geen moeite met door de knieën voor een fles wijn.

De ander is ouder, en heeft sneller last van krakende gewrichten, en wil een model in de hoogte. Dat heeft echter een zaagsnede in het bijzónder fraaie iroko-houten aanrecht nodig, en de andere, jongere en vitalere bewoner, die geen moeite heeft met bukken, doet dat enórm pijn.

Zou dit een oplossing zijn, naast de voordeur is een ruimte van 70 cm:

The other is older, more prone to joint problems, and wants a high standing model. That needs a cut in the really beautiful iroko-wooden worktop, which very much hurts the younger and more vital inhabitant.

So, would this be a solution: next to the front door there is a space of ca. 70 cm:

Het is natuurlijk iets verder lopen naar het aanrecht, maar veel van de dingen die je uit de koelkast haalt gaan rechtstreeks naar tafel, en niet eens naar de keuken/aanrecht. En de tafel staat zo naast de mogelijke plek voor de koelkast!

// Of course it's walking a bit further to the countertop, but many of the things you get from the fridge go straight to the table, and not to the kitchen. And the table is right next to the possible spot of the fridge!
